About Me
I’m Kaiden Brayshaw, a Calgary-based education reporter covering school boards, post-secondary institutions and policy at LiveWire Calgary. I graduated from the journalism program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in early 2025 and have focused on education reporting ever since.
My reporting examines how decisions made at the institutional and government levels impact students, families and communities. I’m particularly interested in enrolment trends, funding pressures and the evolving role of post-secondary institutions in Alberta.
In addition to education, I’ve covered sports, including the Calgary Surge and the Toronto Raptors’ 2025 training camp, combining my lifelong passion for sports with storytelling. I was born and raised in Calgary, grew up a devoted Arizona Coyotes fan (RIP), and still believe sports are one of the most powerful ways to connect communities.
Outside of reporting, you’ll find me wake surfing, hiking, cooking or watching just about any game that’s on.
